Floating Leaf

Following my early morning walk,

I sit in the corner of the kitchen 

Drinking coffee and watching the cat 

On the window sill.

The neighborhood is quiet

And my eyes move to a leaf,

Floating to a  sheltered place

Near the fence in a flower bed.

Writing Alone at Night

There are so many reasons why I write.

Sometimes I share my fears or tears,
But when I’m happy I hand out smiles.

I’ve seen so much and learned a thing or two.

It builds my confidence, once I am done,
But most of all I write,
Because it helps to pass the time,
Alone at night.

 Clouds

The same clouds that obscure your view

Water the trees that give you shade

Cleanse the air you breathe

And the clearing brightens your day

It takes sunshine and rain to make rainbows

You need a dream to make the hope grow

Life to make your day go

And a loving caress will be the peace you will know.

Sometimes I remember those last calls. 

And yet I’ll never recall 

The exact value of a false friendship.

It's not the same without you.

I am longing for a full moon 

To fill my sky once again.

I miss its soft beams of white flowing outside,

a vibrant hue compared to dreaming.

I pick one rose For me, Wishing he were here, The one I held very dear. God took him up to Heaven one day I think of him up there; bow my head to pray.

Watching Fireflies

What’s not to love about a summer day?
Kissed by the sun,
While honeysuckle breezes cool my face.

But when it gets too hot, I seek the shade
Barefoot in clover beneath tall sycamores

In the evening, in the swing, I watch fireflies
Then I fall asleep waiting for another sunrise.
